Comedura de coco
I think it means a foolish obsession (teenagers swooning for Justin Beeber qué comedura de coco).
It's a good term, but I would like to know if the term is widely used. It can't think of an English equivalent. |
Never heard it like that, but I think it refers to "devanarse los sesos"
|
OK coco is brain. I think, in the context given, it may mean brainwashing.

Here's the GDO. It doesn't seem quite the same as yours:  Edit: cross-posting. It does now.
comedura de coco femenino (España familiar): ¡qué comedura de coco que es la publicidad en la tele! all these commercials on TV are just trying to con o brainwash you into buying things you don't need; no me vengas con comeduras de coco don't give me any of your excuses o far-fetched stories; ¡vaya comedura de coco que tienes! you really have been brainwashed, haven't you? |
But it may be "to think too much about something" ("devanarse los sesos")
A X le han comido el coco/le han lavado el cerebro. X has been brainwashed. No te comas más el coco con eso. Stop thinking about it. Quote:

Maybe "fixation?"
|
In that context is "What a waste of time to even pay attention/hear/see/think about that"
Or something to that effect. |
