To be invited to something
I was invited to the party
I was invited for a drink or to a drink I was invited for dinner/lunch or to dinner/have lunch Are both structures correct? |
There's only one option there which is wrong, and that's I was invited to a drink. I think the rule is that you can be invited for the meal/item consumed, but you are invited to an event. Both lunch and dinner can be a meal or an event, but a drink is not an event.
