Yo he escogido este nombre de un famoso cantante colombiano que, con canciones, difundía noticias de pueblo en pueblo en Colombia al final de los años 1870 y comienzo de la década 1880.
My attempt:

I have picked this name from a famous columbian singer who with songs spread the news going from town to town in Colombia during late 1870s and begining 1880s

The country is Colombia, and its gentilic/demonym is Colombian.

Columbia is one of many nicknames for the USA (popular in the 18th century, but not used very much today), the name of many cities and towns, and part of the name of many other places, companies, and organizations in the USA and Canada.
