Os vaticino un futuro negro

English?

Perikles July 21, 2012 06:09 AM

I predict a black future for you
I forecast a black future for you

I predict a bleak future for you
I forecast a bleak future for you

I predict a gloomy future for you
I forecast a gloomy future for you

(I prefer the second one)

So the structure of the verb is to forecast sth (for sb?)

Perikles July 22, 2012 12:47 AM

yes

ROBINDESBOIS July 22, 2012 03:33 AM

Can you think of other verbs following this structure? Or a rule by which we have to apply it.?

Perikles July 22, 2012 07:06 AM

I don't quite understand the question. Most transitive verbs follow that construction: Subject + verb + direct object (+ indirect object)

I gave my hat to you
I see a nice future for you

Although verbs of wishing have
I wish you a merry christmas

where (to) you is an indirect object
