Peine

This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for May 27, 2008

peine - masculine noun (el), comb. Look up peine in the dictionary

Según he observado, el peine lo usan más los hombres que las mujeres.
According to my observation, men use their combs more than women do.

Te vas a enterar de lo que vale un peine...si no haces los deberes ahora mismo:mad::mad::mad:

Hmmm.
I couldn't find an equivalent phrase in English. This saying is typically used when someone thinks a certain path will be easy, when it really isn't.

No pude dar con una frase precisa en inglés. Típicamente, ésta se dice a alguien que cree que cierto camino será fácil, pero no lo es.

It could mean:
You'll learn for yourself once you pursue that path/dream/career/etc., that it isn't so easy.
You'll find out the hard way.
There's no easy way out.

I'm just guessing, but does this mean don't put off for tomorrow what
you can do today (with an addional --or there will be a price to pay.)
Am I right María?
Can a parent say this to a child who doesn't want to do his homework.

It's more the second idea. If you don't do your homework I will punish you (or something to that effect). You'll soon find out what's what/who's boss.
