Julio Iglesias

Iris June 08, 2008 02:51 PM

Julio Iglesias

When I was 15 and I went to Scotland for the first time, the first thing people said when I said I was Spanish was: Ah! Julio Iglesias and that was the end of it.
Now people in England often say: Rafael Nadal...
What would people think of in the States when introduced to a Spaniard?

Tomisimo June 08, 2008 03:38 PM

I dunno. The first thing I think of is paella or tapas. :)

sosia June 09, 2008 01:08 AM

Enrique Iglesias!
Antonio Banderas!
Pau Gasol!
Almodovar!
...............
toreador :D

Rusty June 09, 2008 01:21 AM

Flamenco dancers and the Spanish guitar

poli June 09, 2008 05:31 AM

Anatonio Banderas, Penelope Cruz, Pedro Almodóvar

Tomisimo June 09, 2008 10:35 AM

Everyone else thinks of people and I think of food.... hmmm...

Iris June 09, 2008 10:42 AM

Better to think of both things. The States? A peanut butter sandwich while watching a George Clooney video...

Elaina June 09, 2008 10:52 AM

Yo, al igual que David, pensaría en Paella, tambien en las Corridas de Toros, Sangría, etc.

Julio Iglesias y Willy Nelson!!

Elaina:p:p:applause:

If introduced to a spaniard for the first time I would think of Madrid, architecture, black and red, bullfighting, and a beautiful spanish man. LOL Hey, at least I'm honest.

ElDanés September 06, 2008 12:05 AM

I would also be thinking of los toros y los matadores. :)

CrOtALiTo September 06, 2008 09:12 AM

I'm thinking in Penelope Cruz.

I hope it's okay I correct you? :)

Edit: Oh...

Rusty September 06, 2008 09:16 AM

Both about and of work in this sentence, in case you're wondering.

A magician might say:
Think of a number. What number are you thinking about?

But it is also possible to say:
Think about a number. What number are you thinking of?
Think about a number. What number are you thinking about?
Think of a number. What number are you thinking of?

Ah, okay! I crossed out my previous message, because I thought it was wrong, so thank you for clearing it up.

CrOtALiTo September 06, 2008 09:21 AM

Danes I'm sorry but your corrections I believe that isn't correct but anyway thank you very much.

Just use about, or of, but not both at the same time.

I'm thinking of Penelope Cruz. = I'm thinking about Penelope Cruz.

I like your avatar.
In Spanish we usually say torero for bullfighter. But in English you can also say matador.:)
