Tengo una pregunta sobre el objeto directo pronombre si se refiere a 'la gente'.

Por ejemplo:

Veo la gente en la calle.

La veo en la calle.
Las veo en la calle.

Cuál es correcto? 'La gente' es singular pero refiere a muchas personas.

In the next sentence, the speaker starts thinking about the individuals (las personas) instead of the collective. This is when the plural pronouns come into play.
Andan por la calle sin ninguna dirección.
Las veo como ovejas dispersas que necesitan ser pastoreadas.

The speaker can even switch from the collective to the individuals in the same breath.
Veo a la gente como ovejas, andando por las calles sin ninguna dirección. Necesito pastorearlas.
