I would not say anything about the English, but it seems to me that there is a difference in concept or at least in nuances...
In Spanish, "Resulta que da la casualidad que ese número lo tengo yo" (redundant as it may be) comes to me as a something like "It turns out that it just so happens [that] that it is me who got that number" (not you) My "English" is probably literal (so correct it as applicable), but in Spanish I don't get that "I got that number by chance", I get that "I happen to have that number" (not you). In Spanish there is a "challenging" attitude in the expression, whereas in "It turns out that I got that number by chance" just give me the idea that I got it thanks to my lucky star or something... |
