Here's what I've noticed. Others may notice other items or have other opinions.

(1) To write the equivalent of "the man had just lied down" in Spanish you need to use 2 verbs. One of the verbs that you're looking for means "to have just [done something]", where the eqivalent of [done something] with be an infinitive in Spanish. The other verb that you're looking for means "to lie down/to go to bed".

Una vez un viajero de una tierra distante empezó un viaje largo en su búsqueda para oro y muchos otros tesoros. Al día primerode su viaje llegó a un templo antiguo y decidió pasar la noche estrellada acerca del templo . (The man had just lied down) (El hombre había acabado de se acostó) cuando vio una vista extraña, un hombre con un palo de madera se estaba acercando del templo . Cantó algo palabras extrañas y abrió una puerta secreta..

El hombre había acabado de acostarse cuando vio una vista extraña, un hombre con un palo de madera se estaba acercado el templo (This is not clear I think I will need help). Cantó algunos palabras extrañas y se abrió una puerta secreta

Le siguió y la puerta dirigió a un cuarto grande. Estaba sorprendido de ver que el hombre viejo se sentía (was sitting) en el centro del cuarto y luz de las llamas de fuego en una esquina cayeron en su cara. Era un sacerdote y no estaba sorprendido de verle.
Le dijo – ¡finalmente estas aquí! Sabía que vendrías.
Se pareció (it looked to him) como si este hombre extraño estaba esperando por el.

... madera se acercaba al templo (I suggested the imperfect tense could be used. You're using the progressive imperfect. The verb 'acercarse' is followed by a preposition, but it isn't the one you chose in post #3. Have a look here.)

*Well friend Nice site. Do U have a page that shows the verbs that use "de" ..But I guess difficult to retain it's only with practice you learn

y se abrió una puerta secreta. - It is like He (himself) opened the door
and abrió una puerta secreta is like He opened the door (right?)

Parte Dos

Le siguió y la puerta le dirigió (No Idea about it) a un cuarto grande.
Estaba sorprendido de ver que el hombre viejo se sentó en el centro del cuarto y luz de las llamas de fuego en una esquina cayó (Oups! I confused it with Flames the subject is Fire) en su cara. Era un sacerdote y no estaba sorprendido de verle (Well..I wish to say “surprised to see him, isn’t le for him?).
Le dijo – ¡finalmente estás aquí! Sabía que vendrías.
Le pareció como si este hombre extraño le estaba esperando

Pensó en su mente “Quién era este hombre
Como supo sobre él y la más importante pregunta que le estaba molestando fue…

(The verb 'see' takes a direct object. In your sentence, a pronoun was used for the direct object. The singular male direct object pronoun is 'lo'. ;))

The site I shared that lists the verbs which are followed by the preposition 'a' also has several other lists. I gave you the specific page you needed. :D

On that site, at the top of the page, is a 'site path' that looks like this:

Clicking on the next-to-last link ("Verbs with Prepositions") will take you back one page. There you'll see what you're looking for.

You'll see two groups - "Verbs followed by an infinitive" and "Verbs followed by an object". The link I gave you was "Verbs followed by an object" and "Verbs with a". In your sentence, 'acercarse' was followed by an object (el templo). And I learned a long time ago that 'acercarse' is followed by the preposition 'a' and would be found on that page.
Good dictionaries will provide the preposition(s) that can follow a verb.
(These won't always be the same prepositions that we use in English!!)
