Tiempo continuo después del infinitivo

Quisiera decir en español: "You have to start speaking in spanish"

¿Cual frase es correcta?

"Tienes que empezar hablar en español"

o

"Tienes que empezar hablando en español"

I think I'm right in saying that the English gerund (as here) is always translated as the Spanish infinitive.
