Los ciegos y el elefante
I've run across this old story, “The Blind Men and the Elephant”, which in English ends like this,
And so these men… Disputed loud and long, Each in his own opinion Exceeding stiff and strong, Though each was partly in the right And all were in the wrong! There are many different versions of it in English and Spanish... One of these is here, http://coldchainsupply.blogspot.com/...truth-and.html "Y así estos hombres de Indostán Disputaron en voz alta y por largo tiempo, Cada uno aferrado a su propia opinión por demás firme e inflexible, aunque cada uno en parte tenía razón, ¡al mismo tiempo todos estaban equivocados! Do you know a better version of the translation? (This is probably "general chat", but I put it in Translations... because of the "translation" problem in trying to get poetry across another language...) Any views on this will be great... (and we may get to have a better idea of the elephant...) ;) |
