Hello:)


Here's another text I've translated to spanish. If I have any mistakes, please let me know. I do have a bit of an issue with the past verbs, can never get them right.. especially the estaba, he estado, estuve etc'.. if anyone has an advice on how to get them right, I will be more than happy to hear it :)



The original text is :


Would you believe me, if I told you that I had a most pleasant weekend, although I was working? I did – we spent the whole weekend working at a summer cottage, on top of a hill, close to a golf course. We did not play golf ourselves, but were reminded of the game, when one of the golfers hit the ball so hard that it landed right into Mary's coffee mug while we were having a coffee break on the porch. We had some minor problems with our laptops, but managed to complete our writing tasks by Sunday evening. And mind you, we also had time for some nice walks in the surrounding forest.






¿Me creerías si te dijera que tuve un fin de semana muy agradable, a pesar de que estaba trabajando? Pasamos todo el fin de semana trabajando en la casa de campo, en el tope de una colina, cerca de un campo de golf. No jugamos al golf pero nos hicieron acordar del partido, cuando uno de los jugadores golpeó la pelota tan fuerte que aterrizó en la taze de café de Mary a la hora de nuestro descanso en la terraza.
Tuvimos unos problemas menores con nuestros ordenadores portatiles, pero logramos cumplir nuestras tareas para el domingo por la tarde. También tuvimos tiempo para unos paseos agradables en los bosques que estaban alrededor.

Just an idea, because that's the way I learned English. Now, the way I see it, you already know Spanish, but need to hone your writing skills etc.

Why don't you look to translate from well written Spanish to either English or Hebrew? That way, I know, you'll start to improve those writing skills in Spanish.

That's a good idea, the only problem is that there is nobody that could check for me the Spanish-Hebrew ones :D I might do some Spanish-English texts, but the thing is that I have an exam next month and I really have to do well in the translations into Spanish, that's why I'm translating texts all the time now :D Thank god for this forum, that I can get help with them :)

No I don't... but then how can you say something like that (above in red)

So you are thinking that if you translate:

Yo amo a mi mama word by word to English I love to my mom and then you do the same thing to Hebrew, you are not going to be able to discern in your native language that it means I love my mom and not I love to my mom? :eek:

:D With such easy words yes, I could. What i meant was that if I translate long texts like these, there is nobody that could help me check them if they are correct, because i dont know anyone that speaks Spanish (that is a native hebrew speaker) :p
