"el" needed in this sentence?

Estoy aprendiendo español
Estoy aprendiendo el español

Which is correct? Is "el" needed? Thanks. saludos. :)

If you are going to use "el" the you would construct that phrase as follows:

I am learning the Spanish language.

Sounds better, uh?
