Hola a todos!

My name is Manuel. I am a half Spanish, half Swiss male from the Netherlands, 41 years old, musician. My dad is from Aragón, Spain and my mother (deceased) was from the German speaking part of Switzerland, but I was born in the Netherlands. I really like the Spanish language and I am trying to improve it to be able to speak better with my Spanish family. I also play flamenco guitar, so speaking good Spanish will be useful for that too.

I am hoping this forum can answer some of the questions I have regarding colloquial Spanish/slang which I cannot find in dictionaries/grammar books. I wasn't raised bilingually by my parents (unfortunately!) so I had to learn Spanish like any other person. There are great resources out there these days to learn languages but the finer points of meaning and colloquial phrases are not always easy to understand, so I am hoping there are native Spanish speakers here who can help me with my questions! (preferably people from Spain, who speak castellano, since that is the type of Spanish I prefer to learn, but help from any Spanish speaking natives will be greatly appreciated.)

I also would love to make some Spanish speaking friends here, as an added benefit.
