Espada

This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for July 15, 2008

espada - feminine noun (la) - sword. Look up espada in the dictionary

Muchas veces la empuñadura es la parte más adornada de una espada.
The hilt is often the most ornate part of a sword.

OK, I'll bite.

They sounded the bugles and the bullfighter entered the ring.

I assume el espada is short for el primer espada (a person who is very accomplished in their craft/art), and al ruedo is to the bullring.

Great, Rusty! Actually, espada is simply torero, and primer espada is an important one between those of his profession.

The sword's like used in another sports, you've seen the swashbuckler competition, is wonderful, 'cause it's a formt of practice a lot the used of the sword, between the middle ages the swords were used as arm of personal use.

I hope you all are well.

Have a good day.

Regards.
