Estado de excepción

Does this mean marshall law?

Premium August 14, 2013 02:34 PM

State of emergency, I'd presume.
Marshall law is something similar, isn't it?

AngelicaDeAlquezar August 14, 2013 02:41 PM

Yes, it does, in many countries. In Mexico we say "estado de sitio". :)

Avoiding confusion & misunderstanding:

"Marshall Law" = an Australian television series.

The homophone "martial law" = military rule by military authorities on an emergency basis.

I was going to ask, what was this Marshall Law....

Angelique, is correct, "estado se sitio" imposed by the military in emergency situations.

Estará relacionado con sitiar en el sentido de rodear una ciudad de tropas para que ni entre comida ni salga la gente, ¿verdad?

Siege is the noun, besiege is the verb.

Decididamente sí.
