What does "El te la ponía en china" mean??

I read this phrase (don't remember where) and I have no idea what it means! I hope someone can shed a light on this one.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Manuel

Doesn't seem coherent for me, but maybe, if this was "él te la ponía en chino", this could be that there is a man who used to make a situation difficult for you. ("En chino" is often used to say that something is as difficult as trying to understand Chinese language.)

Thanks a lot Angelica! This is very helpful.

Actually, it could mean two things, as I see it.

He thought you were in China

or

He would place you (he would send you to China) in China.

Obviously context is everything, right?

I agree... it might also mean, "he could set it in (or send it to) China", meaning the man can send the thing you already know about, to that country.

@Manuel: I'm glad you found something useful about all this anyway. :D
