These days young people drink a lot of fizzy drinks
These days young people are drinking a lot of fizzy drinks

Which one is correct and why..?

They are both correct, and whether there is a difference between them is a matter of personal interpretation. I can't see any difference, but the continuous form is for some reason often more trendy, such as in the massively irritating

"I am liking this song"

which means

"I like this song, but I'm stupid" :mad:
