Beginner Spanish movies and books
 

Is there any Spanish movies and books that I can watch and read that don't are not too complex and advanced?

Something light where I can use it as a springboard to progress further.

Any suggestions? Thanks

I dont think so, maybe som graded readers.

I started out watching animated movies, like Finding Nemo, Frankenweenie, Gaturro, etc and also re watch some favourite movies and TV shows in Spanish. If you don't have to strain to get the plot, it's much easier to concentrate on what is said.
I pretty much avoided children's show as the squeaky voices really didn't help me with listening comprehension. Right now I'm watching Epitafios.

As for books, there are learner's books that you can get at all levels, like A2, B1, etc. check your library.

I agree, much "children's" programming is still too fast paced. It often has voices that are too cute for adults to understand, distracting sound effects, etc.

I alternate between vocabulary practice on YouTube and short stories. There is more free material to work with than I have time to use.

Been listening/reading to these stories lately. I'm still at the "Cuentos 1" level, supposedly for children under 5. Ha.

Its diificult to read for me, but i always watch some lessons on youtube and learn new verbs!

It is a 13 episode series done in sort of the Three's Company style. There are some versions on Youtube with subtitles if you prefer those.

I really like watching Las Aventuras de Tedeo Jones. It is a Pixar like movie that is all in spanish.

I've been able to watch some sports in spanish as well. I wish I could sync spanish radio calling with the TV (they are usually a few seconds off of each other).

As for books, I'm not sure. I read 'La Dama Del Alba' but it is a tough read for a beginner. We have local newspapers here that are in spanish that are free. I read those occasionally.
