This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for August 2, 2008

carretera - feminine noun (la) - highway. Look up carretera in the dictionary

Los baches en la carretera son muy peligrosos.
Potholes in the highway are very dangerous.

The highway in my contry has a lot of potholes, and I've used these highway widely in this year, it're dangerous.

Here is the correct way to write what you posted:

The highways in my country have a lot of potholes, and I've used these highways extensively in this year. They're dangerous.

carreteras = highways
A plural subject needs a plural form of the verb (have instead of has).
The contraction it're doesn't exist. You should have used they're (they are) instead, because the subject (highways) is plural and so is its pronoun (they).
