"Si para gustos están los sabores, el helado es el producto por excelencia."

Which, if any, of the two sentences below is an accurate, and grammatically correct, translation of the Spanish sentence above?

"If flavours are for tastes, then ice-cream is the best kind of product."
"If flavours are important in how we much we like something, then ice-cream is a product par excellence."

The essence is something like:

Given that everyone has different tastes, ice-cream is the product par excellence.
