Terminar o finir

Terminar o finir

Acabo de terminar el trabajo.
Acobo de finir el trabajo.

¿Ellos son lo mismo o no?

Also while we're here:

Acabo de + infinitive I just
Iba a + infinitive I was going to
Voy a + infinite I am going to

These are easy ways to avoid conjugating verbs but are they common usage in "real" Spanish.

Como siempre, muchas gracias por su ayuda".

As far as I know, there's no such Spanish verb as 'finir'. It's a good French verb and a good Catalan verb, however. Maybe some folks that live near places where these languages are spoken have slipped it into their Spanish. ;) Add an 'e' to the end and it becomes a good Italian verb. :)

Yes, they are very common.

Hola:

El verbo finir es anticuado y ya casi no se usa; pero el DRAE dice que se usa en Colombia. O quizá en la zona de Ecuador donde estás... Arcaísmos como finir suelen conservarse en ciertas regiones, particularmente en medios rurales.

Serían equivalentes entonces. Pero es mejor que no lo uses si viajás a otros lugares.

Las perífrasis que mencionás: ir a, acabar de, se usan muchísimo.

Saludos.

Thanks to all.

Rusty, I got the "Acabo de finir" from a YouTube video posted by
www.lets-learn-spanish.com. Perhaps as Haroldo noted this site comes from Columbia where they still use it.

If everyone around you uses 'finir', it's fine to use it - there. ;)
