¡No puedes comértela!
From Online-Spanish-Course. com
Esta seta es venenosa, ¡no puedes comértela! This mushroom is poisonous, you can't eat it! No problem except the "te" in comértela. Seems redundant like "You can't eat you it" Como sienpre, gracias. |
We've mentioned before that 'comerse' can be used emphatically.
In addition to the emphatic usage illustrated, 'comerse' can also be translated as 'eat it all up' or 'gobble it up' in other contexts. |
Gracias Rusty. I need to just accept what is and keep going. Every time I question the grammar I get hung up and confused. I don't know English grammar at this level so why beat myself up about knowing it in Spanish. Thanks to all that are helping me. Bob

Don't worry about questioning grammar, but sometimes translations of some words (here, pronoun "te") don't correspond to the same kind of word in the other language.
Here, for example, you may take "comértela" as "eat it up" ;) Still, don't be bothered about some expression usage... fluency and understanding will come with more examples and practice. =) |
