Embedded chat?

Embedded chat?

¡Hola!

I think it'd be pretty neat to have a chat option here.

I know there is the suggestion section here but it's so empty there I decided to just start a discussion here.

¿Qué os parece?

Hola Valeria. ¿Cómo has estado?
¿De qué se trata exactamente tu chat?
¿Qué quiere decir embedded chat?

Rusty January 07, 2014 02:21 PM

She means to add a 'chat' feature, like IRC, or IM, and make it a part of the forum (embedded in the code).

This has been suggested a couple of times before.

¿Cómo funciona el "embedded chat" exactamente y vamos a conseguirlo?

A chat box would appear to the side, or however it's configured, much like you see in Facebook to your right. Or it could be activated by clicking on an icon or a link.

It would probably indicate who is active in the forums.
There would be some lines devoted to chatting, where one or more members could just "talk" to each other without using threads and posts. Some 'chat' packages include 'private chat', where your conversation with another member would not appear in the place where everyone else is chatting.

I doubt the administrator will incorporate this feature, knowing that he had decided against it in the past.

I'm in full agreement of this. :)

Qué lástima :-/

A mi parecer, es ayuda muchos. Especialmente cuando el foro es inactivo.
Respeto, ciertamente, la decision de administrador, pero sin embargo penso tan aplicación será conveniente.

What if people don't want to be contacted, though?

Then you don't click on the "chat" link, or rather don't log in there. Kinda like on facebook.

When would we find out whether this would be implemented?

According to Rusty the admin here is from some reason against it, so sadly I won't hold my breath.

I'd still argue for it. At the end of the day it's not forced or coerced on no one, just something some people might use to improve their spanish through communication during the forum doldrums.

Claro. Estoy de acuerdo. ;'D

Just joined this forum but considering, the closer someone gets to actually "conversating" in spanish as opposed to having time to think about what to type...the better. It's hard to have a conversation in spanish if you haven't trained your brain to listen/process/form response/annunciate. A chat feature would definitely help form this in an individual learning spanish.
