Smilie Translations
I just got done translating the title text for all of the smilies here, but a few of them were hard to translate and there are some that I'm not sure how they should be translated.
For example, how would you translate to roll your eyes in a sarcastic manner () or EEK! () Is Yuck ok as Guácala (:yuck:)? Also, there are some that might not translate because of cultural differences, such as the "It's my 2 cents" (:twocents:), and "Crossing my fingers" (:crossfingers:). Would you mind taking a quick look at the smilie list and suggesting better translations? Thanks! |
My two cents:( (divided into two posts and this one being the second) But it's your fault , because you don't allow more than 20 icons per post and that's an insurmountable difficulty for me...BTW, what about one for computer whiz?
They are mostly other options, I added some notes mainly in the first/second post. Cheers! (Technical problems, I wanted the Duh icon here) = Es obvio/ Está claro :infinity: Infinito. |

(SUENA UN POCO FUERTE, PERO ES LO MÁS LITERAL... PERO ES QUE NO CONOZCO TU TRADUCCIÓN) :shh: Silencio/ No se lo digas a nadie/ Es un secreto :soccer: Fútbol (FALTABA UN ACENTILLO) :football: Rugby (LO PRONUNCIAMOS TAL CUAL SE ESCRIBE) |
Sosia: Help! !Socorro¡...
I do need your help with these translations. Seguro que las de David están bien casi todas, pero estaría bien tener versiones de los dos lados del charco.Y traducir no es lo mío, aunque me lo estoy pasando bien ahora.:worried::thinking::) Thanks again, David, for all your hard work. I'm getting to like this space more and more every day.I'm learning lots.:pelota: |
What a perfectly fun post for you, María. You got to use a whole slew of emoticons.
There are two accepted spellings for the emoticons - smileys and smilies. One is more popular than the other. ;) The very first smiley face - :-) - appeared on an e-bulletin board at 11:44 a.m. on September 19, 1982. It was "coined" by a professor named Scott E. Fuhlman. The smiley face will turn 26 next month. Salute! :) |

I just wrote a long response and then lost it because of a security token error. Grrrrr.
Basically what I said was I've used most of your suggestions María. As far as I understand it, Rugby and Football are two different sports with different rules, so I think I'll leave Fútbol Americano. Gracias! |
Look here, David.
