Help Understanding Voy

I was looking at a song and it said, "Voy a bailar" DOes this mean I will dance or i will go dancing?

Rusty June 21, 2014 10:58 PM

I'm going to dance.

Is the "a" in "Voy a bailar" necessary for it to mean what Rusty said?

AngelicaDeAlquezar June 30, 2014 08:45 PM

Yes, it is. The construction for expressing a future action with the verb "ir" is always:

ir + a + infinitive.

Is this just with "ir" or with any verb expressing a future action?

Julvenzor June 30, 2014 08:56 PM

Just with "ir". Some verbs require their own prepositions.
