Aggressive/extorting

Could you help me correct my English?

-Sometimes you do not want to offend /hurt other people, and you just want to be a hermit, secluding yourself in a small corner, and paying no regard to the storm outside the tranquil life you are living/leading. However, some people are aggressive/extorting, which nature in their character(s) drive them to deprive/exploit others of their in-born rights and freedoms. They then become vengeful. Giving up revenge would occasion indignance; harbouring retaliation intentions would vitiate/weaken/shrink/impoverish attention that could be/could have been employed to seek/elicit happiness. This dilemma brings human beings agony(-ies) and anguish(es).

A few suggestions....
  • I'd choose "offend", but "hurt" works as well.
  • Either "are living" or "lead", in my opinion.
  • ... are aggressive and their character drives them to exploit others...
  • ... harbouring the desire for retaliation diverts attention that could have been ...
  • seek
  • This dilemma produces agony and anguish.
