Hola amigos mio!

Hola amigos mio!

Hola, my name's Paddy. I'm from Scotland.

I'm obviously fluent in English, I can speak a little French, but I'm looking to learn some Spanish. I joined here to try and get started!

So where's best to begin? I know a few words i know the numbers too. Basically I am to be able to write and talk Spanish eventually. Hopefully reasonably fluent.

Welcome to the forums, Paddy!

Several members come here to ask questions about their studies.
Some practice what they're learning by writing sentences or stories.

Other members, native and non-native, give aid and corrections to those who post their practice sentences or stories.

So, just start up a thread in a forum appropriate to your question. Give the thread a good title that will help others to find it (via searching). You can also add tags to your thread for those who search by tags.

Ask any question you want, but keep in mind that your question may have already been addressed. You can search the forums first to see if anyone else has had the same question.

Hope you like it here.

(By the way, your thread title should be ¡Hola mis amigos!
Amigos míos is used, but infrequently.)

"¡Hola mis amigos!" is relatively idiomatic; you better never say "¡Hola mi amigo!".

A pleasure.

Graçias amigo mio!

I will learn. Just keep correcting me! :)

There's an 'Accents' drop-down menu just above where you type. Use it to insert all the special characters needed when typing in Spanish.

Gracias, mi amigo.
Gracias, mis amigos. (used here because you're talking to more than one person)

Gracias, amigo mío. (less used)
Gracias, amigos míos. (less used)

Ç/ç are not used to write Spanish anymore. It was abandoned as part of a spelling reform mandated by the Real Academia Española in the 18th century.

Old Spanish, Catalan, French? I don't know. Why don't you like foreign letters in an accessible way? ;)

So they can write to their neighbors who still use it.

I was just curious because the Swiss keyboard doesn't have all German letters. :D I just discovered that the Spanish keyboard also has "ê" and "è".:lol::lol:
