Hola!

Hola, amigos!

Let's hope I "said" all that correctly.

Welcome to the forums, Race!

soy estudiante = I'm a student
y todo = and all

There's an "Accents" drop-down menu above where you type that you can use to insert the special characters needed for typing in Spanish, including those that you did use.

¡Hola, amigos!
¿Todo?

¡Gracias!

I see the drop-down... just didn't look down far enough to see the ¿ or ¡. Silly me.

Also, question, is there a particular reason why we can drop the una in "Soy una estudiante?" My professor in college always had us add the una, so I'm wondering if she was wrong or perhaps it is a regional thing?

Or perhaps she just didn't want us to be all "I am THE student." Hehe. :D

Race out

Being a student is considered a profession. We omit the article before a profession.
(It is not a regional thing to add the article; it's just a mistake.)

Adding an article singles you out as the only student (definite) or one of many students (indefinite), and you are no longer talking about a profession, but an attribute or characteristic trait.

We add an article when we are modifying the noun.

Soy una estudiante buena. = I'm a good student. (trait or characteristic)

Hola, Race:

Ah! Soy una estudiante buena... this sounds like something she would have had me say over and over, and probably the source of my confusion. Thank you very much!

Julvenzor: Hola!
