Come out into society

Are my sentences correct?

-Are you still doing your degree? If yes, are you an undergraduate or postgraduate? If not, are you working? (=earning money/having a job to support his family etc.)

-At university, we have to force students to learn something practical, otherwise when they come out into society to work, they would have no practical skills and companies would have to provide extra money-consuming trainings.

Are you still earning/pursuing your degree?
If so, ...? If not, ... (.../holding a job to support his family, etc.)

"At university" is British English, which is what you're learning, but that is never said in American English. We always insert an article. But we don't use an article when we say 'at college'.

... otherwise, when they enter the workforce, they would have no practical skills ... extra money-consuming training (no plural).
