Use his brain

What's the idiomatic English for this:

-The person who planned the rooms clearly did not use his brain. How can a room be constructed in the proximity of a floor door? When people enter and get out, noise is bound to get into the room, causing a good deal of disturbance.

The different near-synonyms for arrive and departing have collocations. The following are typical collocations.

When people enter and exit...
When people arrive and leave/depart...
When people come and go...
When people go in and (go) out
When people come in and go out...
When people get in and get out...

The phrase "enter and get out" doesn't work well.
