How to say...
Hola:D In Spanish how would I say 'It surprised me that only 2% of tourists were French that went to the festival 'el encierro' in 2014 as it is a neighbouring country of Spain. However 24% of tourists were from North America'
Would it be correct to say 'Me sorprende que soló el 2% de extranjeros fue Frances que visitar el encierro en 2014 como Frances es acerca a España. Sin embargo, e 24% de extranjeros fue norte america' Is the above correct? It would be great if you could help and if you can fit in any subjunctives that's even better haha Thanks!:D |

Thank you! It is very helpful that you have pointed out my mistakes as I can see I made quite a few careless mistakes!:o Is this version correct?:) Me sorprendía que sólo el 2% de los extranjeros eran Francés que visitaron el encierro en 2014 como Francés está al lado España. Sin embargo, el 24% de los extranjeros fue de Norte-américa. |

Sorry for the random question but I didn't want to start another new thread :o Thanks:D |
The subjunctive is used, yes, but the future subjunctive is not used in normal speech.
When the tense of the main clause is the present tense, use the present subjunctive in the subjunctive clause. I can't tell if the subject changed in the sentence you wrote. If it didn't, you don't use a subjunctive clause at all. Espero ir a la universidad en el futuro. = I hope to go ... Espero que vaya a la universidad en el futuro. = I hope (some third person) goes ... |
So fuere is only used in written Spanish? Thanks
|
Yes, only in literary works, holy writ and old documents.
It survives in some idiomatic expressions, as well. |
