What's better?

Knowing one foreign language very well - or knowing multiple languages?

What is better is only determined by individual preferences. Only you can determine what is best for you, and the amount of effort you're in disposition to make to achieve a certain goal.

I would rather know one language really well than many not so well. When it comes to languages, I care mostly about being able to have conversation with others about various things and to express myself. It takes a lot of knowledge of a language to be able to freely use it for those purposes.

It is very enriching to learn a second language in detail after the language-learning window of early childhood. I have done it with Spanish, and continue to learn more almost every day. I did take a course in French while in college, and in helped me later. I regret not studying it more.

I'd much rather master one foreign language very well. Knowing a little bit of a lot doesn't seem as useful. I guess it depends on what you want to do with your knowledge.

I saw two Spanish people yesterday and they didn't speak a word of it despite being in England. My Spanish and Catalan is better than their English XD
