Present or Imperfect

Hi,

I want to explain how I perform a task. I have read that if you talk about something that you do regularly then use the imperfect past.
So do I use the imperfect past for the whole article

This is how I do this task, I do this, then I do this then I do this, or do I use the present tense?

If you're talking about things that you continue to do regularly, in general you should use the present tense.

The imperfect is for things that you used to do regularly, or that happened over an extended period of time, not for things that you currently do. If you currently do it, it is present indicative tense.

Imperfect: SolĂa leer muchos libros (I used to read many books).
Present: Suelo leer muchos libros (I usually read many books).
