It is a privilege for me to be writing to you
Hello,
My name is Joseph. I'm writing a letter to someone and would like to say "It's a privilege for me to be writing to you". This person is younger than me so I think its ok for me to use ti. So far i've got: Es un privilegio para mi I'm not sure about the rest. at first I thought "estoy escribiendo a ti" but that's more "I am writing to you" so how is "estar escribiendo a ti"? Look forward to hearing what people say and learning. Cheers, Joseph |
Welcome to the forums, Joseph.
You got off to a good start, but the prepositional pronoun is 'mí' (with an accent mark). It's OK to omit the prepositional phrase altogether. The 'estar escribiendo a ti' part works, and means what you are trying to say, but it may be better to simplify the phrasing. You could say the same thing by just using, "Es un privilegio escribirte." The infinitive with a suffixed indirect object pronoun flows better and means 'writing to you'. Even more colloquial would be something like 'Me da mucho gusto escribirte'. |
