The words you highlighted aren't paired.
The word 'to' goes with 'preferred'. If I omit a few words, and substitute 'Ron' for 'model', I believe you'll understand the phrasing. Although Harry much preferred this ... joking Ron ... to the ... aggressive [Ron] ... |
