Live up to with a dead subject
 

My sentences as usual:

-There are not enough jobs for PhD holders in universities, but at the same time those who have a PhD would not consider taking jobs that do not live up to their expectations. Roland was short-sighted and now he has to pay a dear price.

In dictionaries, all example sentences of live up to have a human subject, eg He failed to live up to his parents' expectations. But my sentence does not have one. Is it correct?

'Jobs that do not live up to their expectations' are 'jobs that do not meet their expectations'.
It's perfectly fine to use the 'not live up to' expression with anything living or inanimate.
