Because I enjoy it

Because I enjoy it

How does one say ". . . because I enjoy it."?

Would it be porque "lo gozo," "gozose", "gozarse", or what?

Rusty October 20, 2008 01:31 PM

... porque me encanta (hacerlo).
... porque me da gozo (hacerlo).
... porque disfruto de él/ella.

More context would help us give a better translation.

Jessica October 20, 2008 01:33 PM

porque me encanta

"I am studying Spanish because I enjoy it." This is part of our next lesson.

Estudio español porque me encanta. -or-
Estudio español porque me gusta mucho.

Do you study from a specific textbook?

hwils66 October 20, 2008 01:59 PM

Our book is Barron's "Learn Spanish the Fast and Fun Way", a set of papers the teacher put together and a Webster's "Spanish-English Dictionary for Students.

You need to understand that this is not a class in school. Rather, it is a bunch of old retired geezers who have a volunteer teacher who has never taught Spanish, but has studied it for several years.

Nevertheless, we have a great time, and hope to someday be able to talk a little bit with some of the guys and gals who come in and work in our "barrio."

Rusty October 20, 2008 02:12 PM

Good for you guys! I hope you can all benefit from the experience.

hwils66 October 20, 2008 02:15 PM

Oh, got to thinking about this and didn't want to give you the wrong idea. Even though our teacher has never taught Spanish, she seems very good at this, especially since she's being paid nothing and spends a lot of time on our behalf.

I think this is a good recipe for success (for those who can't travel to other countries):
  • teacher/class
  • good instructional book
  • helpful internet site
Sounds like you have all 3!!

Geeper:

We might could travel to other countries if we didn't have to fly. At the airport, we can bend down to take off our shoes, but can't get back up!

CrOtALiTo October 20, 2008 03:17 PM

I think that you should to say-Lo disfruto.

This is an embarrassment of riches, with so many ways to say this; gozar, poseer, disfrutar, encantar . . .

With apologies to the poet, Browning, "How do I say this? Let me count the ways."

Muchos gracias a todo.
