Is this translation correct?

Is this translation correct?

I'll be visiting some Spanish speaking friends at Thanksgiving and so want to translate my thoughts on the election. (They can speak English fluently, but it would be nice to practise my Spanish).

I've written my thoughts as if the election results have already happened.

I think the translation is correct, but I would be really greatful if someone could double check it, as I am new to this. Thanks!

It's only really the ones in bold that I am not completly sure about. I think the rest is 100% correct.

Background: I am from the UK, and male. I am on semi-formal terms with my friends, so I have not used the 'tu' form (not that it applies here any way).

Quote:

I thought the election was exciting.
Pienso que la elección fue muy emocionante

because there was no obvious winner as both candidates had controversies.
porque no hubo ningún ganador claro que ambos candidatos tenían las controversias.

Trump is good at business
Trump bueno en el negocio

and government might benefit from being run like a business.
y gobierno podría beneficiarse de ser administrados como un negocio.

But his statements were very controversial,
Pero sus declaraciones fueron muy polémicas

especially with his love of walls and bombs
sobre todo con su amor de las paredes y las bombas

Hillary has plenty of experience in government
Hillary tiene un montón de experiencia en el gobierno

but she also had a controversial past with her email scandals
pero ella también tenía un pasado polémico

She always seemed to be hiding something.
ella siempre parece estar ocultando algo

It’s too bad the third party candidates didn’t stand a chance of winning,
Es muy mala, que los candidatos de terceros no tienen posibilidades de ganar.

as I think there should be more choice in candidates
como creo que debería haber más posibilidades de elección de candidatos

Remember it's grateful not greatful.
Es bueno en el negocio is better said es un buen comerciante --- although you may want to define good here with a false university to his name, failed gambling casinos, history of bilking contractors, shamelessly sexist, body shaming and racist statements may seem like bad business to some.

El gobierno puede ser más efectivo dirigido como si fuera un negicio

It's too bad translates as es una lástima in this case, followed by los otros candidatos tienen poca voz (pero con razón si oye las estupideces que dice Gary Johnson)

When Thanksgiving all this election talk will be in the past tense.

You will sometimes get yourself tied up in a knot if you translate thing directly.

Thanks! That's a big help, as I am not a native speaker and do get into a knot with my translations!! Thank you so much, I really appreciate it.
