Por mi culpa vs. es mi culpa
I was told (but didn't understand the specific reasons) that:
por mi culpa and es mi culpa Have slightly different meanings. If you someone cares to explain I'd be grateful. Gracias. |
One means it's my fault. The other means because of the bad thing I did.

Quote:
Por me culpa = it's my fault Es mi culpa = because of the bad thing I did. Correct? It seems the reverse sounds correct. Gracias. |
Es mi culpa que ... = I am to blame for ...
Por mi culpa ... = Because of me (this bad thing happened) / It's my fault (this happened) |

OK, I assume "por" is used as "because" (to translate in English). Now I get it. |
