María José October 27, 2008 02:56 AM

Vicky Cristina Barcelona

Just popping in and out for a quick hello and to tell you that I went to the cinema yesterday to see the latest Woody Allen and that I loved it. It's 'fun' and also good practice for all of you who want to learn more about Spain and hear a bit of Spanish (most of it is in English, though).Beautiful shots of Barcelona, Oviedo...
:clock::pizza::footinmouth: Had to use them, David...
 Will talk to you all soon.

Jessica October 27, 2008 05:19 AM

Wait- what was it about?? Woody Allen's a comedian, right?

poli October 27, 2008 10:06 AM

I read that Oviedo's mayor was so impressed with Woody Allen when he came to film there that the city of Oviedo dedicated a statue to him.

Wow, Maria Jose, I have the places of hear you again, as I have seen in your post you have came back to the forums, you believe me I missed you, well I don't like the movies of Woody Allen, perhaps because I don't meet the actor, for that motive I don't can to tell you if the movie is good or not, but if you need to practice a bit of Spanish, already on the TV, you can to find movies made in Mexico as Pedro Infante, Cantinflas, ect. those movies are spook in Mexican Spanish, and it are very clear in understand, Jessica, I recommend that in the ARES, or the web perhaps in Youtube, you find movies as the movie called Nosotros los Podres, where worked Pedro Infante of you can to find actually movies made in Mexico, as Hasta el Viento tiene Miedo, well it are some movies that I can to tell you, it's will can helps you in your learning of Spanish.

Maria Jose, I bid you welcome again, and I let me telling you I'm happy to see you for the neighborhood of the learning.

He's also a film director.

Here in Spain it has been criticised as cheesy, too idealistic a vision, a bit posh.
I love Woody Allen though. Haven't seen the movie yet.

María José October 28, 2008 06:20 AM

Posh? Cheesy? Did anybody call my name?;)
Thanks for the welcome, Crotalito. But I'll only be around occasionally, unless I get hooked again in the process. Trying to escape that feeling just now...:crossfingers:
Have a nice day everybody.

The movie had a kind of New-York-Times Travel Section quality about it, and for anyone who has seen travel section, that means posh fantasy. Barcelona is not necessarily a garden spot, but in defense of the movie, it was a fiction.

I suppose it's good for Spain, because it will probably get wealthy tourists to want to visit and spend their money which is probably why the mayor of Oviedo expressed his gratitued by having a statue of Woody Allen built.

You're welcome Maria Jose, good, don't worry if you can't to be long time in online inside of the forums but, remember you have friends here in Tomisimo.

You have a great day.
