Trata rebanar la cebolla y ponerle el jugo de un limón (verde o amarillo) y sal.......mmmmmm... delicioso. Claro, no te las comas sin acompañarlas con alguna otra comida......verás qué sabor tan delicioso!!

Elaina;)

cebollas makes your eyes water, doesn't it? and somewhere I read that if you chew gum while chopping onions, your eyes won't water. ...

The tears are a result of a chemical reaction when two molecules combine. The first molecule comes from the onion itself, while it is being cut. The other molecule is water (the water that covers your eyes). If you hold an onion under running cold water while peeling it and making the initial cuts before chopping, you will greatly reduce the chance of your eyes being the only source of the water needed to create that chemical reaction. Also, make sure you rinse your hands and knife before you start chopping.

Una cebolla is also when you owe money to a bank...

Tengo una cebolla pendiente de 500 euros en el banco.

(Just an example, not my case)

:-)

Interesante. En este caso ¿cebolla significa debt o es algo más específico como loan?

Could be both, Mr. T, it's a bit colloquial, but common usage.

Never heard that before now...
Is it common usage in all spanish speaking countries?

Welcome back, Jane.
As per your question: I think the cebolla thing is Spain specific
