Conversations between the Nurse and students - LA TAREA

HOMEWORK.

I have to translate these sentences, so I just want to make sure they are correct.

1. --¿Está mejor tu garganta? Does your throat feel better?
--No, está peor. Debo quedarme en la cama. No, it's worse. I should stay in bed.
2. --¿Por qué no vas a hacer ejercicio el viernes? Why can't you exercise on Friday?
--Porque me lastimé la pierna. Because I hurt my leg.
3. --¿Cómo te sientes? ¿Todavía tienes fiebre? How are you feeling? Do you still have the fever?
--No, ahora tengo sed. No, right now I'm thirsty.

GRACIAS MIS AMIGOS
:D

They look right to me but I'm no Spanish expert.

calling Rusty...
Quick question! I was researching how to say these phrases in voseo form. And it seems to me that the tu and voseo forms of estar (in present tense) are both estás. Is this correct?

Jessica November 07, 2008 04:03 PM

it's estás for tu but what's voseo?
estáis?

CrOtALiTo November 07, 2008 05:15 PM

Jessica, all the phrases are right, congratulation.

Satyr November 07, 2008 05:23 PM

Voseo is something you do not need to worry about. Voseo is used as the primary form of the second-person singular (you form) in Rioplatense Spanish spoken in Argentina and Uruguay and to a lesser extent in some other Latin American countries.

estáis = vosotros (you all)

Jessica November 07, 2008 05:41 PM

yea estáis is for vosotros. vosotros is like Uds. in Spanish class we don't use vosotros because it's the same as Uds.

Rusty November 07, 2008 06:42 PM

vos estás
You're correct, Satyr!

2. --¿Por qué no vas a hacer ejercicio el viernes? Why can't:?: you exercise on Friday? :bad:
--Porque me lastimé la pierna. Because I hurt my arm:?:. :bad:
3. --¿Cómo te sientes? ¿Todavía tienes fiebre? How are you feeling? Do you still have the:?: fever? :bad:
--No, ahora tengo sed. No, right now I'm thirsty.

Corrections above.

what?? How did I get #2 wrong? it didn't have an "a" in the homework
whats wrong with the "arm"?

Satyr November 07, 2008 07:25 PM

look up pierna

Rusty November 07, 2008 07:27 PM

Ir must be followed by the preposition a in this construct, so your homework has a misprint.
Your translation of the verb isn't quite right, that's why it is highlighted.

And, as Satyr suggested, look up what pierna means. :)

Jessica November 07, 2008 08:04 PM

oops actually there WAS an "a" sorry :P
