Six ways to learn Spanish

I ran across this article and thought it was an interesting read.

http://www.fortwayne.com/mld/newssentinel/14472241.htm

Introduction:
Quote:

Many of us have studied language in high school or college, but truly gaining fluency is no easy task. And it only gets more difficult with age.

"Linguists say that most children will learn a foreign language well up to age 12. After that, the brain works differently, and it is difficult to learn a foreign language," explains Dr. Pierina Beckman, associate professor in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature at the University of North Texas.

Spanish is everywhere, and even learning a little can expand your cultural horizons. So if you're looking to improve your skills, what works and what doesn't? Here are six ways to learn Spanish and the effectiveness of each.
Their 6 points are:
  • Study on your own,
  • Take a class
  • Start a program in your workplace
  • Hire a tutor
  • Immerse yourself
  • Use the internet

Hi everyone

I´m a Spanish speaker and I´m learning English. I would love to practice my English with somebody, and maybe I could help him or her with Spanish. Any interested? If yes, my e-mail is: stdnt_english@yahoo.com

Thank you for that article I'm going to follow some of those points. The only thing I'm not sure about is using the internet. What other ways can i use the internet to help me learn Spanish? Besides posting in forums and sending emails back and forth with a Spanish person who wants to learn English (That's what I've done in the past and it doesn't seem to work very well.) ANY SUGGESTIONS WELCOME Thanks. :)

If you download iTunes there are several free Spanish-learning podcasts available for download. I listen to them quite often.

Zach, how did you find teh spanish learning podcasts? I can't find them.

Zach March 27, 2007 05:34 PM

Once in the iTunes store, click "Podcasts" in the top left corner.

Then, to locate the language learning podcasts, click "Education" and then "Language Courses", and the most popular ones will be in the "Featured" box, or the "Top Podcasts" list.

One of the most popular Spanish podcasts is "Coffee Break Spanish".

Also be sure to check out Zach's blog post on how to find the podcasts.
