Taza

This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for December 27, 2008

taza - feminine noun (la) - cup, mug. Look up taza in the dictionary

Disfruto de una taza de chocolate cuando hace frío afuera.
I really enjoy a cup of hot chocolate when it's cold outside.

what would be the word for "glass" as in glass of wine and "bottle" as in "bottle" of milk?
vaso for glass? bottle for envase?

Tomisimo December 27, 2008 12:04 PM

glass (cup) = vaso, copa
glass of wine = copa de vino
glass of water = vaso de agua
bottle = botella
bottle of milk = botella de leche
container = envase
:)

Here in Robot's post I have found a mistake (Disfruto mucho una taza de chocolate cuando hace frío afuera.) The phrase would be Disfruto de una taza de chocolate cuando hace frío), the sentence without the word De does not make sense for me, it will sound better with the word De suffixed.

CrOtALiTo December 27, 2008 12:39 PM

I drink a water cup

Jessica December 27, 2008 01:01 PM

No, it's I drank a cup of water (if it's past tense)

Tomisimo December 27, 2008 01:54 PM

Thank you, Crotalito.

I agree with Jessica. I still can't find the mistake. :good:

The mistake was using disfrutar without the word de after it. Both can be used, but disfrutar de sounds better than disfrutar, especially in Mexican Spanish.
