Try this search: "el Día de los Santos Inocentes"
This will give you a number of sites that explain what it means. This one is in Spanish: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%C3%AD...ntos_Inocentes Clicking on the English translation link on the page that comes up gets you the English page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massacre_of_the_Innocents How the day is celebrated is found here. |
I have understood, El Dia de los Santos inocentes is a biblical story, when the Herodes King tried of kills to the children of that epoch, the I don't know very well the story above it, but as Rusty said, you can do a search from Google.ca, and the website will show you a list above the possible website where you can find information above of El dia de los santos inocentes, I hope you find the information to you need.

What, I don't understand you, you have written (I will.) what is that oration for? |
In Spain Santos Inocentes is like April Fools day in the United States. There's a big Chistmas fair in la Plaza Mayor of Madrid, but mostly what they sell is prank gifts like fake turds and rubber vomit. It was a bit disconerting to me a first. I usually expect angels, Santas, creches but what I saw was something quite different. I got used to it though.

My :twocents:
Elaina: ¡UGH! ¡Poli! Me has vacilado! ¡Qué fácil caí! :duh: Poli: ja ja ja ja ja....te veo el día de la Candelaria para pagarte. :dancingman::dancingman: Elaina: Pero qué tonta fuí. Pero a lo mejo no tanto. Voy a ver a David. A ver si él cae. :wicked: Everything you borrow on this day you must return by "El Día de la Candelaria". Does anyone know when that is? I do.:whistling:  |
I haven't heard it before, but it confirms what I suspected that el día de los santos inocentes tiene algo de ver con trucos y como te dije en España ese día no es nada serio;). Imagine going to what looks like a Christmas fair and finding aerosol poop and whoopie cushions for sale there! Until that day I never saw aerosol poop before. Apparently it hasn't made to ours shores yet:impatient::lol:
|
And what the heck does "aerosol poop" look like?
UGH......GROSS! Please tell me I'm wrong! Is it an aerosol to spray the scent of poop? |

It's for real. It comes in a cheese -whiz type spray can. I didn't buy it, so
I never actually saw what the end product looked like. I'm not sure it would be the most compelling reason to visit Spain in the holiday season, but if you go, it's there waiting for you at la Plaza Mayor, and it may be just as useful (or even more so if that could be possible) as some hinged castanets or some other piece of plastic junk that visitors sometimes buy as souvenirs. |
"Día de los santos Inocentes" is a catholic festiviyy, as Rusty says.
It's also used as April's folls day, but usuaklkly are innocent jokes. The TV and radio stations usually gives one false "special" new, and the children make little joke, like the spray form poly, putting little paper-men in the backs of the people or verbal jokes. Example of a verbal joke: Rusty have a pair or shoes with no shoelaces. Poli -"Rusty, tienes los cordones de los zapatos sueltos" Rusty looks down, without remembering his shoes has no lace. When he realices it, Poli says "¡Inocente!"looks Another one is saying somebody of the family expects a child, or will be married, and when the other person call to congratulate, realices he has been fooled. Saludos :D |
ok thanks for the info. I will go search for more details :)
