Spanish preterite / imperfect

I have to choose the imperfect or pred.

Esta manana nos 1.(fuimos / ibamos) en carro sin mapa. Al salir de la cuidad, Jorge 2(pregunto / preguntaba) al empleado de una gasolinera donde 3(estaba / estuvo) el carril para acceder a la autopista. El empleado no 4(pudo / podia) contestarle porque no 5(supo / sabia) a donde (iba / fue), jorge le 6(dijo / decia) que 7(fuimos / ibamos) a malaga. El empleado 8( confirmo / confirmaba) que el carril enfrente de la gasolinera (fue / era) la ruta mas directa.

I think it is.

2. pregunto
3. estaba
4. pudo
5. sabia
6. fue
7. djio
8. ibamos
9. confirmo.
10. fue

This is what I think but I'm not sure. If someone would be able to help me out that'd be great.
