All the same vs even so

When can't all the same be replaced by even so?
Is the a subtle difference in meaning or punctuation?

When all the same is used as an adjective phrase, the meaning is difference.
It means nothing has changed. Example: After years, I was amazed to see that everything was all the same,
Consider using nevertheless when you wish to say sin embargo in English. It's commonly used.
