How to pronounce "Jehová"
I am brand new to learning Spanish. I want to be sure to get pronunciations as correct as possible from the beginning so that I don't have to correct bad habits later. :)
One of the ways that I am working on my language skills is by reading and memorizing some of my favorite Bible verses in Spanish. I am not sure how to pronounce the word "Jehová" in Spanish, though. If I try to say it with the "J" sounding like the "j" in "jefe" and the "h" as silent, it sounds a bit strange, and does not easily work with my tongue. Because this is a transliterated word from a different language, do these consonants use different sounds? Thank you so much! |
The sounds are as you stated. The j is more aspirated than in English. The h is silent. The v is between vowels, so it is softened (say a b but don't close your lips together). Make sure the stress goes on the last syllable.

I'm sorry but, I don't know as I can explain you the pronunciation about your questions, because you would need to hear as sound the word but directly from a person native speaker Spanish, the I think that even, we are trying of explain you for letter, I don't believe that, you have clear your question, I give you a hint, you better try to speak with some who speak Spanish, then so you will can understand much difference between meaning and pronunciations and also sounds.
