What would be the correct translation for thunderstorm....

My try -> tormenta de trueno.

Close, but I don't know of a literal translation. I'd go with "Tormenta eléctrica".

Yo considero que la correcta Traduccion es :
I consider that the correct Translation is :

"TRONADA"

Tambien Podemos decir tambien "Un trueno Tormentoso"
Also,We can say "Un trueno Tormentoso"

You're right. "Tronada" is a perfect translation (It will be added to the DRAE next edition, 23rd). But I have to say I've never heard or used it.

I also never heard it. For me "tronada" es una persona loca :-) .
For me "Tormenta eléctrica" o "tormenta con aparato eléctrico" are more common to hear
Between kids "un tormentón" (a very big storm)

atnbueno, how can you tell if something is going to be added to the DRAE? Just curious. :)
